Supreme Court Bashes Mamata Banerjee, command to apply 'One Nation One ration Card' soon.
The Supreme Court reserved its order on the problems migrant workers faces during the shutdown.
Kolkata: On Friday (June 11) the Supreme Court ordered the state of West Bengal to implement the "One nation, one ration card" scheme immediately.
The Supreme Court reserved its order on the problems migrant workers faces during the shutdown. The high court also reserved order on the registration process of workers in the unorganized sector in order to take advantage of the benefits for them under multiple government schemes.
The Supreme Court said that "you cannot locate one or the other problem. This is for migrant workers."
Under the "one nation-one ration card" scheme, beneficiaries of the Public Distribution System (PDS) will be able to pick up rations from any fair-priced store in the states and territories of the Union that has biometric verification.
However, the "one nation-one ration card" scheme has been the subject of controversy many times. The scheme has faced opposition from states including Assam, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that subsidized food such as rice and pulses will be available to migrant workers and workers from unorganized sectors until May 2021. Even if they do not have a ration card is really important.
