Japanese automaker, Toyota has officially announced to unveil the all new Toyota Avanza and the all new Veloz in Indonesia on November 10, 2021. The new MPV will be unveiled a day before the beginning of the 2021 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show). The launch will be carried out digitally on Toyota Indonesia YouTube.
Few days back, the all new Toyota Avanza and the Veloz were spotted at a dealership in Indonesia. The images reveal that the new model will come with a completely re-designed exterior and interior. It looks more like a crossover/SUV instead of MPV, as most of the design elements have SUV-feel.
The all new Toyota Avanza will come with boxy body and long wheelbase, which should help the Japanese automaker create more space inside the cabin. The spy images show that the new models looks way better and modern than the existing model. It will come with all-new front fascia, which is inspired by the RAV4 and the Corolla Cross.
The new Toyota Avanza has a large trapezoidal grille, flanked by slim LED headlamps and triangular fog light surrounds. The centre air intake now moves lower to the bumper, while the ORVMs are now placed on the door panels. There is a prominent chrome strip that starts from the top of the grille and runs through the headlights and along the bonnet and windows, and finishes at the D-pillars. The chunky wheel arches give it an SUV-like feel.
The Veloz, a more premium version of the Avanza had full-width tail-lights and a decorative skid plate, and faux vents at the corners of the bumper. The top-spec model is likely to be fitted with 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Not just exterior, the cabin of the new gen Avanza will be completely new. It features cleaner dashboard with silver trim on central console, and an ambient lighting strip. The spotted model was fitted with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will come with a digital instrument console, a multi-functional steering wheel, digital-knob AC controls, and the engine start-stop button. It will come with an electronic parking brake. The Veloz had a giant roof monitor, a single pop-out cupholder and USB charging ports in the second row. It will also come with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System).
The all new Toyota Avanza will be based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) that also underpins the Toyota Raize and the Daihatsu Rocky. This platform will also spawn two new models – a mid-sized SUV and a new C-segment MPV for the Indian market.
It is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 98PS and 140Nm of torque. The entry-level models could get 88PS, 1.2L naturally-aspirated petrol engine in Indonesia. The MPV is also likely to receive e:Smart Hybrid’s electrified 1.2L engine
